James D-Eon Priest

James D-Eon Priest departed this life for his heavenly home on September 4, 2013. D-Eon was born on October 24, 1927, to Ozy Floyd and Lola Love Priest in LaMesa, Texas, the youngest of three boys. D-Eon had an exciting life as an artist, a yearbook and class ring representative, opened and operated the first "water store" in the U.S., and finally etched portraits and scenes on monument stones.He retired from each job, only to find another interest waiting. He loved his church and his family, he was an avid reader, always kept his home and lawn in order, was a long time member of the Little River County Historical Society; a charter member of The Little River Arts Council and he loved the company and fellowship of the Brookshire Coffee Bunch. He forged lifelong friendships with his Taylor-Balfour co-reps and the Lake Palestine buddies. D-Eon was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Norman and O.F. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karla 'K-K' Priest, two daughters, D-Ann (Larry) Gilmore of Spring, Texas, and Denise (Jerry) Deutsch of Seabrook, Texas; the mother of his children, Barbara Mund Priest; K-K's children, Sara Kay (David) Lauter and Ray Kolbachunski; seven grandchildren, Josh Gilmore, Hannah Gilmore, Kortenay (Jeff) Thompson, David Lauter Jr.., Kaston (Dean) Kusler, Molly Kolby, Josh Kolbachinski; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Priest and Euta Hinton; two nieces Kathy (Larry) Henning and Judy (Claude) Wiedower, several other relatives and a host of friends. He will be sorely missed by his little four-legged friend, April, who worshipped him. Visitation will be 6pm to 8pm on Friday September 6, 2013 at Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, AR. Services will be officiated by Brother Jim Cross, at First United Methodist Church of Ashdown, Saturday September 7, 2013 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Wilton Cemetery, Wilton, Arkansas, under the direction of Madden Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Ashdown, 145 East Commerce, Ashdown, AR 71822 or The Little Rive County Historical Society, 5 East Main Street, Ashdown, AR, 71822.
