Lawrence E. "Duke" Walker

Lawrence Edward "Duke" Walker was born in Pekin, Illinois on October the 20th, 1937 to William Eugene and Erma Miller Walker. He was given the nickname of Duke by a nurse that brought him to his mother shortly after his birth. As the youngest of 10 children, he was truly blessed to have a lot of extra love, guidance and spoiling by his older siblings, who also provided him with extra special playmates, which were also his nieces and nephews. Duke was a very easy going and happy guy that was always there to lend a helping hand and he was easily loved by all. His cheerful smile would light up a room, and his sass and wit made him a such a joy to be around. I am sure if there is a round table in heaven, he will be sitting there with a cup of coffee, telling tales of hunting, laughing and loving it all. During the span of his life, Duke served in the Marine Corp, was on the Volunteer Fire Department, the Ashdown City Council and also a Mason. Prior to opening Walker Heating & Air, he was a Postmaster in Ashdown. In the early 1980 he decided to close his business and went to work for Fowler Equipment in Texarkana. On Monday January 8th, 2024, Duke made his transition to his heavenly home leaving here on earth his wife Bobbie Misenheimer Walker, his loving daughters Vanessa Walker of Ashdown and Stephanie Engledowl and son in law Danny of Hope, AR. His bonus sons and their wives Jeff and Teresa Misenheimer of Texarkana, TX and Jay and Melanie Misenheimer of Lindale, TX. Duke also has four grandchildren that loved him dearly Jeremy and Samantha McBride of Hope, AR. Nathan Brooks of Idaho Springs, CO. Bethanie and Cody Savoy of Magnolia, AR. and Tracee and Austin Thrash of Ashdown. His grandchildren gave him the greatest gift of all, his six Great Grandchildren, Drake, Cameron, Heidi, Ayden, Alena and Walker, these babies would make him glow even on days when he wasn't feeling his best. You could just see his delight and love for them when they came in the room! Duke also leaves behind a host of friends and hunting buddies to carry on the hunt until they meet again and a special nephew Charles Walker Jr and his wife Maureen. Duke is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Erma and all of his siblings, William "Bill" Walker Jr., Charles Walker Sr., Marjorie "Margie" Hannig, Herbert Walker, Robert "Bobby" Walker, Paul Walker, Jaunita "Sita" Watkins, Barbara "Punkin" Kumpf and baby Walker, oh what a reunion they must be having. A time of visitation and celebration of Duke will be at Madden's Funeral Home Thursday, 01/11 from 5:00-7:00 along with one Friday 01/12 at 1:00 prior to the 2:00 P.M. service, led by Ronnie Smith. Honorary Pall Bearers are Norman "Wormy" Jester, Joe Mack Bennett and Ray Bell. Pall Bearers are Jeremy McBride, Austin Thrash, Cody Savoy, Nathan Brooks, Jimmy Jester, Philip Redfearn and John "Bull" Durham. Final resting place will be in the Wilton Cemetery, Wilton Arkansas.
