Ron Cowan

Ron Cowan aged 66 passed away in St. Michael's hospital in Texarkana surrounded by his children. He had struggled with complications of diabetes for several years. He was born to Johnnie Mae (Rutherford) and Sidney Richardson Cowan on February 5, 1960 in Wallace, Idaho. Ron was very proud of his children. He loved spending time with them hunting, fishing, camping, grilling or just relaxing. Ron was the 4th of eight children. Much to his dismay, he was lovingly referred to as Ronnie by his mother and at least one of his siblings. He grew up in Kellogg, Idaho, Republic, WA. and Foreman, Ar. He worked many years for Poochies Pallet Mill. After going back to school, he worked as an electrician for the Carrolton Mo Water Department. Later in life, he worked shutdowns, then retired. Ron would not want people to dwell on his last few years but on how he lived. He was a simple man; he had a gentle soul but could be fierce if he thought need be. He loved anything that started with the "Outdoors". He loved hunting, fishing, campfires with old rock music and a cold one. He collected old cookbooks and Jello molds. He loved grilling, especially off the grills he built himself. He loved canning and tinkering. He could build anything. He probably helped many people in Little River County at one time or another. He also liked old westerns. He will be missed by all who love him. We will miss his smile, his visits and his good heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Jo, brother Jimmy Don, and a nephew Jeremy Allen Royal. Ron is survived by his children Zon (Sonja) Cowan of Foreman, AR, Brandon (Samantha) Cowan of De Queen, AR., Brooke (Jarrod) Hockersmith of Foreman, AR. and Sarah (Kyle) Garsow of MO. His brothers Weyland Cowan of NM, Sidney Cowan of FL, his sisters Susan (Dee) Hill of Tx, "Sandy" (Billy) Simer of Ar. and Connie Stewart of MS. His grandchildren Kylie (Hunter) White, Kenzie Cowan, Calum and Miah Casiano, Jacob and Beau Hockersmith, Gavin Cowan, Keera Reece-Cowan, Jana Langston. A great granddaughter Heidi Kate White whom he missed coming into this world by two days, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held July 18th at the Church of Christ in Horatio, Ar. Thank you to the brothers and sisters of the church for their kind hospitality.
