Nell W. Williams

Nell Leona Smith was born to Zion Whitfield Smith and Grace Mae Buster Smith on July 2, 1924, in Ashdown, Arkansas. She graduated from Ashdown High School. She attended the high school homecomings and was in the parade on her 50th reunion year. She was a dental assistant, she worked for the AR health department, and at the Army depot during the war. She married a sailor from Fouke, Arkansas on February 9, 1949. His name was E.P. Williams . Nell and E.P. had Enoch Paul their son, then five years later Patti Gail, while running The Williams Cafe in Ashdown before moving the family to El Dorado, Arkansas in 1959, to continue in the restaurant business. After helping run several restaurants and a catering business she retired with E.P. to the family property in Fouke. After becoming a widow in 1984 she traveled more often, spent time taking care of family every time they needed her, remodeled a house, moved in with her cousins she grew up with, and became a Grandmother! When her health declined, she moved back to El Dorado to be near Patti. Then in 2016 she moved again to Fort Collins, Colorado to be near Paul. She lived in Golden Peaks until her death on Monday, February 28, 2022 at the age of 97. She will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known her. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown. Services will be Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 10:00 at the funeral home.
