Ruby Lee Rosenbaum

Ashdown. Ruby Lee Rosenbaum, 96, passed away April 11, 2023. She was born November 4, 1926, to the late Luther Foster and Lillie Lee Williams of the Hicks Community. Ruby Lee attended school through the 8th grade at Hicks and graduated as Valedictorian of Ashdown High School in 1944. Ruby Lee married Lewis P. Rosenbaum July 15, 1950, and she worked for the Little River Welfare Department while supporting her husband’s Esso service station business. After staying home to raise her children, Ruby Lee began working for the Ashdown School District in April 1966 and continued for the next 53 years in the District as a secretary in the Administration Office. She was recognized for 50 years of service in 2016 and officially retired in 2019, but she continued working part-time until 2020 when the pandemic and her health forced her to stay home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ashdown. She served as pianist for several years at Ben Lomond Baptist Church as well as pianist for Monday night singing at Pinecrest Retirement Home. Ruby Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis, her son, Leroy, her son-in-law, Bruce Sikes, and all six siblings, Lula Williams, Marie Crouch, Jewell Sehon, Mary Elizabeth Welch, Charlie Edward Williams and Lillie Jo Edmiaston. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Sikes of Fort Smith, her grandchildren, Carol (Josh) Cannedy of Fort Smith, Samantha (Casey) Simmons of Lockesburg, Trey (Kathleen) Rosenbaum of Nashville and Mindi (Nichol) Kesterson of Lockesburg. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Wesley Rex Simmons, Aubrie Dee Simmons, Leroy Cade Simmons, Karson Lewis Rosenbaum, Ensley Garrett Rosenbaum, Grady Kash Rosenbaum, Brookelyn Kay Lockeby and Kale Edward Kesterson. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, her nurses, Katie and Torie, her personal aide, Susan, and her very special caregivers, Betty Morgan, Ethel Roy and Jovon Pree. Arrangements are under the direction of Madden Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, April 16th from 3:00 – 5:00 at the funeral home in Ashdown. Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:00 with Pastor D.J. Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Ashdown Cemetery.
