Mr. William Marion Coker, Jr.

July 28, 1935 - January 29, 2012

William Marion Coker Jr., 76 of Ashdown,Arkansas died January 29, 2012 at his home. He was born in Fouke, Arkansas on July 28, 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marion Coker Sr. and Laddie Lucille McCormick Coker; and two brothers, John Wylie Coker and Dennis Eugene Coker. Marion was retired from SWEPCO after 43 years. He loved his community and served on the city council for over 20 years. He was a member of Hicks First Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Rotary Club. Marion loved his family and friends but Doyal and Dillon held a special place in his heart. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary LaVerne Coker; Son, Darrell Coker and wife Nancy Coker of Ashdown, Arkansas; Daughter, Susie Brown and Husband Tim Brown of Ashdown,Arkansas; two grandsons, Doyal Ward III of Ashdown,Arkansas and Dillon Ward and wife Erin Ward of Ashdown, Arkansas; four step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday February 2, 2012 at Hicks First Baptist Church in Ashdown, Arkansas with Rev. Leon Turner and Bobby Fisher officiating. Burial will be immediately following at Ashdown Memorial Gardens in Ashdown, Arkansas under the direction of Madden Funeral Home, Ashdown,AR.Online registration is at maddenfuneralservice.com.
